just before i dropped out of school i was really depressed and living off campus. i spent all my time in my room writing melodramatic songs and poetry, and i was drinking and smoking a lot. i walked to class every day along the train tracks that ran through campus and often fantasized about hopping on a train and leaving it all behind.

I wrote this song for my mom who has always been there to support me through the worst times and the best times.

my troubles are forgotten in my footsteps
the rain it starts to fall but i don't mind at all
i am baptized by the roadside and i am born again
now the sun is out a shining
and the grass is dancing round my toes
but there's nothing earth or sky
like a mother's shining eyes
i've got to get back home
